Spending winter in southern Europe with a motorhome!
"The sun always shines in Spain..."
It (almost) really does! This southern European country has plenty of sunshine hours and is a popular destination for sun-worshipping motorhome owners, not only in summer, but also in winter. We can understand why! In the authentic Nerja, for example, the sun shows itself more than 300 days a year. Although this resort is very touristy in summer, attractions like El Balcón de Europa and the stalactite caves of Nerja are actually very quiet in autumn. In a nutshell: no better place to escape the cold days in the north! Spend the night nearby at Área de Autocaravanas La Herradura.
Although overwintering might make you quickly think of southern Spain, temperatures in the low-lying northern regions of the country are also very pleasant in the autumn and winter months. Bilbao and San Sebastían, for example, have plenty to offer during the quieter months of the year. From museums to small-scale cultural festivals and everything in between; the colder months in these cosy cities are not a punishment. Especially in the lovely autumn sunshine, it is enjoyable! In Bilbao, spend the night at motorhome stopover Kobetamendi, or park your motorhome at Area Autocaravanas Donosti in San Sebastían.

Enjoy the Portuguese autumn sunshine and a good glass of wine
The thought that Portugal is the ideal destination to bridge the cold northern winter will be no secret. Temperatures here stay well above freezing and the tranquillity of autumn offers a great opportunity to explore undiscovered places! For example, drive through the vast Alentejo, a beautiful wine region where you can have a great time even in the quieter months. Autumn also sees the grape harvest here, the perfect opportunity to grab your chance and be there! After the harvest, enjoy a glass of wine among the vines before closing your eyes at the Praia de Sao Torpess motorhome stopover.
The most popular winter destination in Portugal is by far the Algarve. This region, in the south of the country, is a popular all-year-round motorhome location and partly due to its fine climate, this is certainly understandable. The seaside resort Albufeira conquers the hearts of - mainly - partying youngsters in summer, but in autumn and winter, peace and quiet return and it is a cosy and charming place. You spend the night here at Motorhome Park Falésia, after which you open your motorhome doors in the morning and walk straight to the beach.

Spending the after-summer all autumn in southern Italy
Although a little less popular and well-known, late summer is also lovely in the south of Italy. In the heel of the Italian boot, you can still stroll around the cute villages of Apulia (Puglia) in the cooler months on flip-flops. This beautiful region can be described in one word as ‘picturesque’, because with its hilly landscape, where the occasional white village sticks out, and a long coastline, the area is picture-postcard-perfect. The rural roads take you from village to village - each with its own charm - where you can taste the flavour of the region, or stroll along the clear blue waters on the coast and catch all the sunshine. A visit to Apulia cannot fail to include a visit to the traditional trulli, the white round houses with cone-shaped roofs, and in the trulli village of Alberobello you will stay close by, at Parcheggio Nel Verde.

- When in Puglia, you definitely cannot miss the traditional trulli!
