Discover Vienna by motorhome: the best tips + overnight stay

The city of classical music, coffee houses and art-worthy architecture; that's Vienna! Would you like to visit Austria's extraordinary capital soon? Pay attention then, because we take you to the best hotspots as well as the nicest motorhome stopover to stay overnight!

Time travelling through the city

As the capital of Austria, Vienna is the country's largest and most important city of the country with a history that goes back a long way. The imposing architecture radiates this in all its colours and will not fail to impress you. For example, visit the famous Schloss Schӧnbrunn with its beautifully landscaped lush gardens, the Hofburg palace complex or the impressive Schloss Belvedere. Still haven't seen (or heard) enough? The city is known for its classical music, which you will find everywhere. A visit to one of the most famous opera houses in the world, the Wiener Staatsoper, is therefore a must while in town. For the ultimate Vienna experience, book tickets for a performance in this impressive opera house, or at one of the many other venues in the city!

Besides opera and architecture, there is another thing Vienna peaks at: coffee houses. The coffee house culture emerged several centuries ago and is still something you can't ignore when visiting the city. Therefore sit down at a coffee house, such as the iconic Café Central, Café Sacher or Café Landtmann, to enjoy a good old-fashioned cup of coffee and a pastry. Just like the Viennese do!

Out and about in the area

Do you need a change from the cultural highlights Vienna has to offer? Then this city is also the ideal destination for a city trip, because you certainly won't be bored in the surrounding area. For example, put on your walking shoes and walk the almost 11 kilometres long ‘Lobau loop’ in the Danube-Auen national park. This will take you back to the traces of World War II and includes, among others, walking through beautiful meadows. For a nice bike ride close to the city, head into the Wienerwald. West of the city, this nature reserve stretches for dozens of kilometres and is home not only to nature, but also to castles, monasteries and other historical buildings. In short: das Beste aus beiden Welten!

Much more to experience

‘Boring’ is a word that's not in the Viennese's dictionary. Both inside and outside the city, there is much more to do besides the classic highlights. The Donauinsel, for example, is a narrow and elongated island on the River Danube where there are an endless number of fun activities to do. Whether you go out on the water with a kayak, SUP board or swim, or just stay on the shore for a nice walk, picnic or attend one of the many events that are organised; it's all possible. Would you like to put your taste buds to the test too? Then book a culinary tour of the Naschmarkt with an accompanying food tasting, then you can test your knowledge right away and enjoy all the delicacies on offer!
