The best motorhome destinations in Europe in October!

October is the month when the weather gets a little cooler and the leaves fall from the trees. Autumn really begins in Europe! Many motorhome owners choose to take a break with the motorhome and head for the sun or go a little closer to home! In this blog article you can read where you can enjoy different activities and events and of course get tips on where to stay overnight with your motorhome in Portugal, Spain and the Netherlands.

'Nacht van de Nacht' has been held in the Netherlands since 2004. This always takes place on the last night when daylight saving time ends. During this night, companies, municipalities and households turn off their lights to draw attention to the fact that our world is becoming lighter. Across the country, various locations host activities and events that take place in the dark, this year on Saturday, Oct. 26! 

For example, drive to Bussloo because there you can go to Volkssterrenwacht, in Voorst Gem Voorst, between 19:30 and 23:00 to see the presentation “Op zoek naar een donkere hemel" about the current starry sky and the theme "lichthinder". If it is a clear evening/night, there will be the opportunity to look at the starry sky and the planets Jupiter and Saturn through telescopes! After admiring the starry sky, you can spend the night at motorhome stopovers De Adelaar and Boerderij de Kolke, which are about a 10-minute bike ride away from the observatory.

If you are a (Spanish) language lover, make sure you drive to Madrid, Spain, in early October! Because that is where the fourth edition of Hispanidad is being organised this year. This is a multi-day event to celebrate the Spanish language! From 4 to 13 October, there will therefore be various activities in the city. During this week, Spaniards celebrate with markets, but also enjoy literature, art and food! There will also be free concerts featuring various artists from Spanish-speaking Europe, America and Africa. On 12 October, the bank holidays of Dia de la Hispanidad, you can enjoy music and fireworks in the evening at the fountain Plaza de Cibeles. 

In the center of Madrid you won't find a motorhome stopover, but outside the center you can certainly go with your motorhome! With public transport you can be in the heart of Madrid within 45 minutes and enjoy all the activities! ¡Vamos!

Driving your motorhome to the Algarve, in addition to enjoying the sun and the coast, you can also enjoy various natural parks and hiking trails in the north of this region. Besides being active during your motorhome trip, you can also enjoy the beautiful coastline of the Algarve. Our recommendation for this region? Sagres! This fishing village is located on the most southwestern tip of mainland Europe where you can enjoy a beautiful sunset! So, are you a real beach lover? Then spend the night with your motorhome at Camping Sagres Orbitur. From here you can also easily visit the city center! But you can also choose to park your motorhome at Area de Autocaravanas Vento Norte, Vila do Bispo. From this motorhome stopover, you can easily reach Barriga Beach where you are surrounded by large black rocks.
