Forget the Costa Brava and Costa del Sol, in the north of Spain you will find the Costa Verde. As its name suggests, this green region is rich in colourful nature, as well as plenty of cute coves, quaint villages and wonderful hiking and cycling routes. For example, visit the pristine beaches Playa de Torimbia and Playa del Silencio, known for their purity and crystal-clear waters. On a former railway line, the Via Verde de la Senda del Oso cycling route takes you past the region's most beautiful spots. A bonus is that this route is accessible for all levels! In northern Croatia, the Kvarner Bay connects the coastal villages on the mainland with the islands in the Adriatic. The island of Krk is accessible by bridge and offers plenty of beautiful sights. For example, you can wander through the narrow streets in the town of Krk, and further south, in the town of Baška, you will enjoy beautiful bays with white beaches and the clear blue sea water rushing between the rocks. Less known is the island of Cres, with its pastel-coloured villages and picturesque harbours, where you can taste the best seafood. Looking for peace and quiet? Then hire a (private) boat to explore the western coast of the island and go on adventures in the hidden coves. Don't forget to bring your diving goggles and snorkel!
