The best motorhome destinations in Europe in July!
For many motorhome owners, July is the month of summer holidays, leisure and relaxation. So it's time to go out with your motorhome! Whether you want to relax by the sea, explore culture and nature or party, there is something to do all over Europe. Read on to find out where to go in Belgium, the United Kingdom and France in July!
The Flemish coast
There is plenty to do on the Flemish coast! Whether you like walking, cycling or relaxing, you can do it all along Belgium's coastline. You can cycle along the relatively new Coastal Route Flanders, part of the Coastal Cycle Network. Here you cycle from Het Zwin Nature Park entirely along the coast to De Panne, or the reverse. This route is almost 90 kilometres long and can be completed in one day, but you can also choose to cycle the route in several stages. Then make a stopover in Knokke-Heist, Blankenberge or Ostend, for example. While enjoying a typical Flemish shrimp croquette and a local special beer, enjoy the beautiful views over the water, let the wind blow through your hair and relax in the salty sea air. You can also discover the Flemish coast in a relaxing way while walking. There are several signposted walking routes, but especially the Beaufort walking routes are highly recommended. Varying in distances between 5 and 15 kilometres, you walk through both nature and villages. Ideal on the Flemish coast is the coastal tram between Knokke-Heist and De Panne, which stops at various places along the coast. Are you out and about with the kids? Then a visit to Plopsaland De Panne is also a must! Equipped with rough roller coasters as well as mini-musicals and themed attractions, the whole family can have fun at this cosy amusement park! In short: on the Flemish coast there is something for everyone.
Spending the night along the coast can be done at various places, for example at Camperpark Zeester in Middelkerke, in Blankenberge at Camperpark Blankenberge or Kampeerautoterrein De Wielen, or at motorhome stopover Plopsa Village in De Panne.

Highland Games Scotland
Although Scotland is part of the United Kingdom, it has a distinct culture. By far the most distinctive difference is its sports, as anyone who thinks of Scotland thinks of the Highland Games. As the name suggests, these traditional sports are organised in the highlands of Scotland, but events are also held in the lower areas today. And you can be there! With the aim of bringing community and tradition together in celebration, the Highland Games are therefore something you must have experienced once in a lifetime! The games are divided into different categories. There are the 'heavy contests', where you can think of pole throwing, tug-of-war and ball hurling. During the 'field events', participants' endurance is put to the test. But that is not all! Between tough competitions, you will enjoy bagpipe music and traditional dances in kilts such as the Highland Fling, where different individuals and groups compete against each other. The Scots may be competitive, but they always keep in mind the importance of conviviality and unity. Consequently, the parties often go on, while enjoying the requisite local delicacies, until the wee hours of the morning! In addition, Scotland is a wonderful region for hiking. The vast countryside lends itself perfectly to getting away from the crowds and enjoying the peace and quiet. It is still holiday after all!
Most Highland Games take place at the weekend. On 13 July, visit the Alva Games in Clackmannanshire and stay nearby at motorhome stopover The Falkirk Wheel in Falkirk. The Balquhidder, Lochearnhead & Strathyre Highland Games take place on 20 July near Callander, where you park your motorhome at motorhome stopover Loch Katrine. In Dunnet, stay overnight at motorhome stopover Dunnet Bay Club Site, from where you can visit the Halkirk Highland Games on 27 July.

- Bagpipe music is not to be missed on your motorhome trip to Scotland!
Quatorze juillet in France
On 14 July 1789, the Bastille prison in Paris was stormed and the French Revolution began. This set the tone for the unity of France: the storming of the Bastille showed that change had to come. Only a hundred years later, in 1880, 14 July was declared France's National Day under the name 'quatorze juillet'. To this day, the day is one big celebration across the country. Although the festive day is fully celebrated in both larger cities and smaller villages, the official ceremonies take place in Paris. Are you interested in French history? Then you should definitely go here, because you will go back in time! The day starts on the Champs-Élysées, where the military parade takes place. Some 4,000 soldiers, policemen, firemen and students march in the parade, a very impressive sight. Several military planes and helicopters also fly over with smoke in the colours of the French flag. A concert takes place at the foot of the Eiffel Tower in the evening, alternating between classical music and pop. Bring a picnic basket, find a spot on the grass of the Champ de Mars and enjoy a wonderful summer evening of music and conviviality! Be sure to stay until after the concert, because as the sun sets, Paris' most beautiful fireworks show will be lit. For half an hour, you will witness the highlight of Quatorze Juillet: a colourful banging end to France's National Day.
In Paris, spend the night at motorhome stopover Park My Truck. You can also choose to park your motorhome outside the city, for example at motorhome stopover Parc du Pâtis in Meaux, Parking Disneyland Paris in Coupvray or Base de loisirs Seine-Ecole in Saint-Fargeau-Ponthierry. From here, you can travel to central Paris by public transport.

- Admire in the sky the colours of the French flag!
