Do you like to dive into a different culture and experience traditions as purely as possible? The Spanish culture is one in a million and comes alive in Seville during the holy week Semana Santa. Impressive processions pass through the city, honouring the religious traditions that are still very much alive in Seville. Spread over several days, multiple religious celebrations take place, each with the idea of commemorating Christ's suffering. In a nutshell: something you have to experience once in a lifetime.

Semana Santa takes place from 13 to 20 April. Two weeks later, from 5 to 11 May, the festivities erupt during La Feria de Abril. This April festival is filled with music, dances and costumes in Flamenco-style and is a must to attend if you are staying in the area longer.

Although winter sports quickly come to mind when thinking of Switzerland, some of the country's mountainous areas actually turn into huge seas of flowers in spring. So-called ‘flower walks’ are therefore the perfect way to celebrate spring amid peace, quiet and beautiful surroundings. For example, hike among the cherry trees rising above Lake Zug on the Zug Cherry Blossom Trail, or immerse yourself in a sea of crocuses in the Emmental via the Rämisgummen ‘Sea of Crocus’ trail. Still not done hiking? Then take the route to Lake Walensee and Seerenbachfälle, which takes you through a colourful setting of flowers and plants. Just be sure to dress in plenty of layers, as the weather in the mountains can sometimes be treacherous and change at any moment!

Are you a late-season skier who especially wants to enjoy the beautiful spring weather at altitude? Many high-altitude ski resorts in Austria keep their lifts open until the end of April! Perfect if you still want to go on winter sports for a while and cover the last metres on the long slats in the sun! Just be aware that the snow quality is likely to be slightly lower due to the higher temperatures this late in the season. So, gain metres in the morning, and enjoy a drink on the terrace in the sun in the afternoon! Have you had enough skiing, but would you still like to visit the snow-covered mountains? Many ski resorts also have hiking trails that take you to panoramic viewpoints. Don't forget to bring your sunscreen and sunglasses, because you will definitely need them!
