In the footsteps of Vincent van Gogh!
Vincent van Gogh is one of the most famous painters in the world. A great Dutch painter, but recognition came late. Only after his death did he really get noticed and become world-famous! In his lifetime, only one of his paintings was actually sold either. A painter with a very interesting life that was not always easy. Van Gogh lived in many different places, but never anywhere really long. Take a motorhome tour of these places and find out what was behind the man who painted the sunflowers!

Veenoord
The only lodge where Vincent stayed, which is really still completely intact is in Veenoord in Drenthe. Here you can visit the van Gogh Huis Drenthe. At the museum, you will be given a guided tour by one of the volunteers who will tell you 'the story of Vincent' through pictures and texts. The room where van Gogh stayed then looks exactly as it did in 1883, so a visit to this museum is highly recommended! He only lived here for two months, but he was eager to get to know 'ordinary people' and paint the landscape. The nature he also loved so much can be seen here in all its glory. There are several cycling and hiking routes in the area inspired by van Gogh.
You can spend the night at several places nearby, such as the free motorhome stopover in Emmen. Planning to visit Veenoord in spring? Then you can also spend the night at Camperpark de Berkenweide in Erica, 8km from Veenoord.

Arles
Vincent also lived in many different places in France. One of these places is the city of Arles in the south of France. After living in Paris with his brother for a while, Vincent was looking for more peace and quiet. In Arles, he painted his most famous works such as the yellow house, where Vincent also stayed for a while. The places on which his paintings are based can also be visited with a marked walking tour. For instance, stand on the spot where van Gogh painted his starry night on the Rhone. Take a look at where the yellow house stood. The original house is no longer there, but there are still many landmarks on this spot from the painting. In high season, guided walking tours are also organised to take you past these famous spots. They will take you through Arles and tell you about Vincent van Gogh's paintings and life through the different spots.
