These are the travel trends for 2023!
It looks like 2023 is going to be another beautiful motorhome year. This year revolves around doing your own thing! From ''off-grid'' travel to ''set-jetters'', this article composes a list of some of the hottest travel trends for upcoming year. Curious? Then continue reading!
Trend alert: ‘’Set-Jetters’’
I can already hear you think... what are set-jetters?! Did you ever watch a film or movie and caught yourself taking a break to google where it was filmed? Then you're not alone! Set-jetters travel to the most gorgeous movie and film locations all over the world, and it is expected that many more people will start doing this the upcoming year!
Possibly one of the most classic set-jet locations in Europe is Salzburg. The Sound of Music was shot here! The city is almost a film character on its own. Take a look at the Mirabellgarten or at Schloss Leopoldskron. Stay with your motorhome at Stellplatz Salzburg.
Oxford, too, is home to a very popular movie... namely; Harry Potter! A lot of scenes from this world-renowned story have been filmed at Oxford University. Don't forget to visit the Christ Church Dining Hall, the big auditorium of Hogwarts is inspired on this dining hall! Don't wait no more for your Hogwarts invitation, park your motorhome at Rye Farm Play & Display Car Park and discover the magical world of Harry Potter!
Unfortunately, you cannot book a room at the Grand Budapest Hotel. You can, however, visit Görlitz! This German city is known for its ''movie career'', especially after the 2014 movie Grand Budapest Hotel premiered. Admire the Gothic architecture and art nouveau in Görlitz, and stay with your motorhome at Reisemobil & Caravans Hoke.
- Do, re, mi, fa... do you know the popular film scene that was shot here?
Authentic culture
Travellers are increasingly looking for authentic experiences. Overnight stays with a farmer, ''off-the-beaten-path'' destinations or cooking courses from an Italian ''nonna''. The more authentic, the better! There are also plenty of options for an authentic cultural trip by motorhome.
How about an overnight stay at a Spanish winery? Wine has been authentically made at Cellar El Masroig for more than 100 years. In addition to offering a motorhome site at the vineyard, the company offers several tours. Take a tour of the vineyard, do a wine tasting or check out museum Ferrocarril. El Masroig also offers delicious food packages: how about breakfast with wine tasting, or a delicious dinner with - you expect it - matching wines.
Fortunately, you don't have to travel far for authentic experiences. There is plenty to see and experience in the Netherlands too! Take a look at the Simonehoeve. This cheese farm and clog factory is also a motorhome site! Take a free guided tour and discover how cheese and clogs are made. Travel to Volendam and discover authentic Holland!
- Taste delicious wines in Spain!
On an ''off-grid'' adventure!
Away from the hustle and bustle of modern city life, ''off-grid'' travel is becoming increasingly popular. With an RV, you can easily travel to remote places, far away from civilisation. To really travel "off-grid" with your motorhome, there are a few things to consider.
''Off-grid'' basically means that you are completely isolated from the electricity grid. So when you go camping without power supplies, make sure you have enough battery capacity. In addition, make sure you reduce your power consumption, and definitely don't forget to bring enough water and food!
When you go wild camping, you go completely ''back to the basics''. Thus, it is perfect for an ''off-grid'' motorhome-trip! In Norway, Sweden and Finland, you can wildcamp anywhere, as long as you stay at least 150 metres away from buildings, and treat nature with respect. Whether you go for Norwegian fjords, Swedish lakes or the Finnish lowlands, here you will definitely be far away from busy city life!
Still in need of a little comfort? There are also plenty of motorhome sites that will give you a real ''off-grid'' feeling! Take a look at the sustainable wilderness campsite Nomadic Naali, in northern Finland. Here you stay in the peace and quiet, but still have some comfortable facilities.
- A motorhome allows you to easily travel off-grid!
