During a campervan trip through Germany, you will encounter it all: beautiful castles, green nature, cosy cities full of history and lakes to cool down in. This means that there is something for every campervan enthusiast in the country! Below, you can read all about six indispensable sights for your next motorhome journey to Germany.

King Louis II was king of Bavaria from 1864 until he died in 1886. The Neuschwanstein Castle was built by his order. The castle can certainly be called fairy-tale like, as the white castle contrasts beautifully with its (dark) green surroundings. That's why it was the inspiration for Sleeping Beauty's castle in Disneyland. You can reach the castle on foot or in a carriage like a real prince or princess. To stay in fairy tale mood, you can explore the rest of the area. Hohenschwangau Castle is close by, as is the Museum of the Bavarian Kings. After your visit, you can go for a nice walk in the green surroundings. Or go for a swim in the nearby Alpsee.

Lake Müritz is the second largest lake in Germany. Lake Constance is even larger, but is also partly located in Switzerland. Therefore, Müritz is sometimes called Germany's largest lake. The lake is located in the Mecklenburg Lake District and in the Müritz National Park. You can have a lovely swim to cool down on a hot summer day. If you prefer your feet dry, you can also take a boat trip on the water or rent a canoe. In the national park, you can enjoy hiking and cycling through the vast forests, which are also on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Around the lake, there are also several towns worth visiting, such as the medieval town of Röbel. Here you can admire various half-timbered houses.

With its history as a trading location, the German Hanseatic city of Bremen naturally has a beautiful central marketplace. Here, you can settle down on one of the many terraces. On this square you will also find Bremen Cathedral, from which you have a wonderful view of the city. But that is not all on this square: you will also find the Rathaus (town hall), the old part of which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On a guided tour of the building, you will learn all about the city's history through the many paintings on display. If you want to admire more art after your visit to the Rathaus, you can do so at the Kunsthalle. Here, you will find mainly paintings made between the 14th and 20th centuries.

In Bremen, there are several RV parks, including Am Kuhhirten.

Bremen is also known for the fairy tale of the Bremen Town Musicians. On the Fairy Tale Route, you will come across many more fairy tales in your motorhome and learn all about the Brothers Grimm.

The Geierlay is only for the daring: it is the longest pedestrian bridge in Germany and you should not be afraid of heights! From the bridge you have a wonderful view of the surrounding area, the low mountain range of the Rhineland slate plateau. You can reach the bridge via a short walk from the camper van site and make the exciting crossing. This crossing is even more exciting in the wind, because then the bridge swings! And then the 360 metres you have to cross at a height of 100 metres is suddenly very far? After your walk across the bridge, you can go for a nice walk in the surrounding area. You can find hiking trails at the Geierlay visitor centre.

Just a stone's throw away from the suspension bridge, you can spend the night at Parkplatz Breitwies.

The Moselle is one of the best known regions for a campervan trip in Germany. So it's time to discover this gem! Cochem is one of the most popular towns on the Moselle. In the medieval town you can admire the most beautiful half-timbered houses and on top of a hill there is the Reichsburg of Cochem, which you can visit during a guided tour. There are also plenty of wine cellars where you can taste and buy the most delicious Mosel wines. Of course, this is also possible in the rest of the Moselle, because the area is full of vineyards! During a hike or bike ride through the area, you can also get a guided tour or a tasting at one of the many vineyards.

A visit to Trier, the oldest city in the country, is also recommended. Especially the city gate is a must, it is also on the UNESCO World Heritage list. As the name (Porta Nigra) already suggests, this is a black gate. A nice contrast with the coloured half-timbered houses on the market square!

Berlin Cathedral is a magnificent structure and is one of the most important churches in the city. During the Second World War, the church was destroyed. Between 1975 and 1992, it was restored to its former glory. In the basement of the church, you will find several tombs. Another nice feature of the church is the organ, also known as the Sauer organ. This organ is immense, which makes it so beautiful! If you go up to the roof, you will have a wonderful view of the city.
