4 things to do on Sicily with your motorhome

Sicily is the perfect destination to discover by motorhome. From the capital Palermo to Mount Etna, the island has a lot to offer! We will highlight the best places for you, which can all be visited with your motorhome!

Palermo

Several beautiful buildings can be found in the old center of the capital. For example, both the city’s cathedral and the impressive Palazzo dei Normanni, which now houses the Parliament of Sicily, are worth a visit and should not be missed! Another well-known but sinister sight of the city are the catacombs of Palermo, where many mummies are stored. Also, don’t forget to taste the delicious streetfood, such as Cannoli, while in Palermo! Streetfood is one of the many things Palermo is known for.

There are several motorhome pitches in the capital Palermo. For example, Area Attrezzata Camper Palermo is close to the old city center, just like Green Car Palermo

Mount Etna

Mount Etna is the paragon when it comes to Sicily. This active volcano, which is of the most active in Europe ánd the world, is reachable by cable car, from where you can continue by bus or on foot. Both are a great way to see this beautiful miracle of mother nature!

Just inside the national park where Mount Etna is located, you will find camperstop Linguaglossa. Handy to stay here before or after your climb to Mount Etna!

The Salt plains of Trapani

In the salt plains of Trapani you will find many pink salt plates, with an occasional old windmill in the landscape. To this day, salt is still extracted here. The area can be discovered in different ways: by motorhome, but also by boat. The salt pans turn beautifully red around sunset, so it is highly recommended to visit around this time! The port city of Trapani is also perfect for a day at the beach and discovering the old town.

Near Trapani, you can spend the night at camperstop Hotel le Saline. From here you can easily visit the salt plains!

Scala dei Turchi

Sicily has even more natural beauty, namely the chalk rocks “scala dei Turchi”, which means ‘The Turkish Steps’. You can climb from beach to beach via the rocks, which makes for a fun adventure! Also nearby you can find the Akragas, an archaeological site also known as the temple valley.

Two camperstops can be found around Scala dei Turchi. To the east of the natural beauty you can find camperstop Punta Piccola Park and to the east you can find Camperpark Lido Rosello.
