Discover the jewel of Central-Europe: Slovenia!

You might not think about this country immediately, though Slovenia is a perfect destination for motorhome owners! Drive your motorhome to picturesque mountain villages, vast blue lakes and impressive caves. All the splendour of the country makes it hard to pick and choose what to see and experience on your motorhome trip. To help you along, we composed a stunnig motorhome itinerary for your trip to Slovenia!

Why Slovenia?

Slovenia is a small country, which means that you never have to travel far inbetween destinations. This makes the country perfect for a motorhome-trip! Free camping is not permitted, but don't worry: we'll give you some tips for motorhome stopovers as well!

Slovenia might be small, but it is mighty in its nature! From gorgeous mountains to green forests, historical cities or even beaches, Slovenia has a lot to offer! The wide variety of natural beauty makes Slovenia an all year round travel destination. Cool down in one of the beautiful lakes in summer, or discover the Slovenian Alps on your ski's in winter. You could even heat up in one of the many thermal spa's! In short, you will never be bored in Slovenia!

Ljubljana Slovenia

- The capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana, is gorgeous!

Triglav National Park

Our trip starts in national park Triglav. This is the most famous nature reserve of Slovenia and hosts a lot of well-known sights.

The Soča-valley is one of these sights. Here, the bright blue colored Soča river finds itself a way through the rocks. On the river itself, you can undertake many different outdoor-activities. Rafting is one of the most popular ones, but if you don't like adventures like those, the river is also perfect for some kayakking! True dare-devils can zipline their way down the valley, to see the beautiful views in an aerial view.

Another one of these popular sights: The Vintgar-gorge. In this gorge, you'll walk along a 1,5km-long track which looks out over extremely clear water. Travelling to Slovenia in winter? Unfortunately, some of the activities mentioned are not available at the moment, but there is still lots to do! Trek around with snow shoes or go ice climbing! We advise you to stay for at least two days, to explore Triglav to the max! Park your motorhome at Kamp Zlatorog.

Lake Bled

From Triglav, we continue our trip to Bled. This is arguably the most popular tourist attraction from all of Slovenia. Gaze upon the beautiful lake, known for its castle that's located on a small island in the middle of the lake, and try the delicious Blejska Kremšnita, a typical Bled cream cake. Take a dip in the lake in summer, or walk one of the many trails around the lake. Park your motorhome right next to the stunning lake at Camping Bled.

Ljubljana: the greenest capital of Europe

Our motorhome trip continues to Ljubljana, a city that was titled ''Greenest capital of Europe'' in 2016. Ljubljana is a small city, so it is a perfect pit-stop during your trip. Two days in this city are more than enough to immerse yourself in its culture and enjoy the fun terraces in the city. Stay in the centre at Gostilna Livada.

On an adventure in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps

Kamnik is one of the oldest cities in Slovenia and one of the most beautiful mountain villages of the country, but the surroundings of Kamnik are especially worth visiting! Take a couple days to explore the mountains here. Visit the enchanting Velika Planina, a shepherd's village that is located at 1.600 metres above sea level. We would definitely recommend this! Sports enthusiasts can hike to Kamniška Sedlo, a gorgeous mountain plateau surrounded by high peaks! This hike starts at Kamniška Bistrica, a mountain valley with stunning blue water. Park your motorhome at the foot of the mountain at Pri Jurju.

Winter-fanatics can eat their hearts out at the second biggest ski resort of the country, with 42 kilometres of slopes! Travelling in summer? Have a look at Hiša Stare Trte, the oldest vine in the world! Stay close to the centre, but in nature, at Drava Center. Prefer being in the middle of the city? Stay at Avtobusna Postaja Maribor.
