Make the Maβen clink at the German Oktoberfest!
Oktoberfest is almost upon us again! In late September and early October, several cities in Germany are transformed into the scene of this traditional beer festival, where the tents are packed with partying people and the beer flows richly. So, get the Dirndls and Lederhosen out of your closet, because after reading this blog article, you will know exactly where best to celebrate this grand German folk festival! O'zapft is!
Don't drink and drive! Make sure you take your bikes with you and park your motorhome at the motorhome stopovers mentioned in this article, close to the Oktoberfests.
Munich: the king of Oktoberfest
When you think of Oktoberfest, you think of Munich. As the king of the traditional beer festival, the city attracts millions of visitors every year and it really is something that should be on your bucket list. The Theresienwiese is converted into a festival area especially for Oktoberfest and is home to several large and smaller tents, run by six of Munich's big family breweries. Enjoy the tastiest Oktoberfest beers, orchestras and, above all, Bavarian conviviality! The celebrations also continue outside the tents, as with several biergartens, a large fun fair and endless stalls selling traditional Bavarian refreshments on the grounds, you won't have to get bored. Ein Prosit der Gemütlichkeit!
Oktoberfest in Munich takes place from 21 September to 6 October 2024. Spend the night at the Allianz-Arena Wohnmobilstellplätze or just outside Munich at Waitzinger Wiese in Landsberg am Lech.

Stuttgart: less tradition, more fest
For a hip touch to Oktoberfest, Stuttgart is the place to be. The little brother of Munich's Oktoberfest, the so-called Canstatter Volksfest is slightly smaller and less traditional. Here, the ‘Oktoberfest rules’ don't matter so much and hip music is played on the Alpenhorn, large screens are used in the tents and there is a laser and light show. Are you full of beer and can't hear (or say) the phrase ‘Noch ein Bier, bitte!’? Then the Oktoberfest in Stuttgart also offers the perfect solution, because besides beer, most tents also serve other drinks. That way, at least you won't have to visit the famous (and infamous) Kotzhügel as in München.
From 27 September to 13 October 2024, Oktoberfest in Stuttgart erupts. Park your motorhome at Campingplatz Stuttgart or Wohnmobilstellplatz Fellbach. Outside the city, stay at Wohnmobilstellplatz Leonberg.

Dortmund: beer, music and culinary delights
The Bavarian traditions of Oktoberfest have also crossed state borders and made their way to the Ruhr region. In Dortmund, you will celebrate one of Germany's most popular Oktoberfests and enjoy Bavarian music with a touch of rock. Several famous Oktoberfest artists will attend, to bring the hands in the air and feet off the floor. For the culinary delights, the best of both worlds is brought together, as there is a wide choice of both Bavarian and regional specialities for you to enjoy. Combined with the special Dortmunder Kronen Festbier, you will undoubtedly experience an unforgettable evening!
Dortmund's Oktoberfest will take place on 27 and 28 September and 2, 4 and 5 October 2024. Near the festival area, stay at Toppark Dortmund Wischlingen, or outside the city centre at Dürrwang GmbH & Co. Caravan und Reisemobile.
- In Dortmund, enjoy Bavarian music with a touch of rock and, of course, pints of beer!
