Combine city & nature during your motorhome trip in Croatia
Croatia has it all: beautiful nature where you can spend hours marveling at and beautiful cities that are all fun to visit. That's why Camperstop has listed the most beautiful locations for you, from where you can enter nature as well as easily visit the city!
Zadar & Plitvice Lakes
The city of Zadar is bursting at the seams with historic buildings, including an impressive ancient Roman forum. Besides the architecture, the city is especially known for its beautiful sunsets, which are not to be missed! Just over 1.5 hours drive from the city are the Plitvice lakes. In this famous national park are several waterfalls and lakes to admire. The area also lends itself perfectly to go out for a walk. In addition to the Plitvice Lakes, the Kornati National Park is also a must, this archipelago can be discovered with a boat excursion from Zadar.
In Zadar you can spend the night at camping Borik, near the center.
Close to the Plitvice lakes you can also spend the night at camper park Cvetkovic.
Split & National Park Krka
In the Krka National Park, where you can easily reach from Split, you will find the most beautiful waterfalls with yet another appearance than the famous waterfalls at the Plitvice lakes. The big difference between the two parks is that at National Park Krka you can take a swim in some places, where this is not allowed at the Plitvice lakes. As National Park Krka is less well known than the Plitvice lakes, it is also less crowded in the summer months. Highly recommended!
Camping Stobreč is just a short drive from Split.
You can also spend the night just outside Krka National Park on the Slapovi Krke camper site.
Zagreb & nature reserve Žumberak
The Žumberak nature reserve may be a somewhat less well known nature reserve than the aforementioned national parks, but it is certainly no less worthwhile. From Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, you are here in about 1.5 hours drive. The nature reserve is characterized by waterfalls, flower fields and steep mountains. A beautiful green area to travel from village to village by camper or to make nice walks!
Zagreb is also a city where you can have a good time for a few days. So you can enjoy the beautiful architecture and take a ride in the shortest cable car in the world. You can also go underground in the Grič tunnel, which was built to protect the inhabitants from airborne attacks during the Second World War. This capital city is perfect to combine with a few days of nature during your trip through Croatia!
Camp-Zagreb is located on the outskirts of Zagreb, from this location you can explore this historic city.
