During an overnight stay with your motorhome at the water you will be at the water's edge in no time. That means that you can take a refreshing dive into the water from the camperstop, go out on the water with a boat or spend a nice day sunbathing on the meadow or the beach. These recreational lakes in the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Germany are located in beautiful surroundings and are perfect for a nice stay at the water during your motorhome.

Camper Area Roermond - Netherlands

Camper Area Roermond is situated at the Noorderplas at Area X. In this recreation area young and old have lots of fun. Would you like to take a refreshing dive in the water on a hot day or do you prefer to explore the lake by canoe which you can rent at the lake? You can also lay down your towel on the beach and enjoy a nice day sunbathing. Dogs are welcome at Doggy Beach and for children there is a water park where they can let off steam. After a day in or by the water, you can relax on the terrace of the beach pavilion, after which you can return to your motorhome in no time.

If you want to go out from the camperstop, you can visit Designer Outlet Roermond. Here you can do plenty of shopping. In the centre of Roermond you can also walk an interactive monument route or you can discover 21 special locations of Roermond on a bicycle route through the municipality.

Camping Car Park Serre-Ponçon – France

Lac de Serre-Ponçon is a large reservoir in the Hautes-Alpes region of France. You will spend the night in the beautiful green mountains. The reservoir ensures that there are no floods and is important for the drinking water supply of the area. The village has a special history, as it has known three locations in total. After the French Revolution, the village was abandoned and the village that followed was demolished because the reservoir was built. In the lake, you can have a nice swim, for instance to cool down after a nice walk or bike ride in the area. Fishing is also allowed when you have a fishing licence that you can buy online at Carte de Pêche.

De Zwerver – Belgium

At camperstop De Zwerver in Nieuwpoort you spend the night at the recreation area Spaarbekken. This is very popular with surfers who you see come by in abundance. From the camperstop, various walks and cycle routes start through the beautiful surroundings. And if you want to go into the water yourself, you can do so at the nearby sandy beach at the sea. Here you can also admire the lighthouse of Nieuwpoort and take a nice walk along the extensive coastline.

Nieuwpoort was also an important location during the First World War. The Battle of the IJzer took place here in part. You can still find traces of it here. At the Visitor Centre Westfront Nieuwpoort, for example, you can learn all about how the IJzer plain was flooded. From the monument, you also have a beautiful view of the coast and the polder landscape.

Badehalbinsel Brombachsee – Germany

The camperstop in Absberg, Badehalbinsel Brombachsee, is located, as the name of the site already indicates, at Brombachsee. This reservoir is the largest still water in the Franconian region and one of the largest dams in Germany. Several sandy beaches lie on the lake where you can have a nice swim. The area is also popular with water sports enthusiasts, such as wakeboarding, so you will have plenty to see from your camperstop! This legend is about a woman who lived a rich life, but ended up poor because she wanted to have the most expensive possession possible at all costs. In Stavoren, you can admire a statue of this woman. If you take a walk along the waterfront, you might pass by a bunker from the Second World War that stands along the coastline.
