Looking for green in the Black Forest!

Germany's Black Forest region lends its name to its dense forestation. Nature lovers will be in their element here, as the hilly region is full of things to do! Would you rather relax completely? That is possible too! And another great thing: with the KONUS-Gästekarte you get free access to public transport in the region, which comes in handy if you like to leave your motorhome where it is. Read on to find out which four places in the Black Forest are definitely worth a visit!

Karlsruhe

The fan-shaped city of Karlsruhe is considered the gateway to the Black Forest and also one of the sunniest cities in Germany, surrounded by greenery. Here you will find a fine combination of culture and nature. The special street layout in the city centre has earned Karlsruhe the nickname ‘fan city’. All streets in the ‘fan’ end up at the imposing Karlsruhe Castle in the north. Curious to see what the city looks like from above? Then climb the palace tower and feast your eyes on the city and the palace gardens! Also make sure to visit one of the interesting museums and go on a culinary adventure in the city centre. Strolling through the streets and alleys of Karlsruhe, you will pass beautiful architecture, admire special art and become one with the southern German hospitality.

Park your motorhome outside the city centre at the Karlsruhe motorhome stopover.

Baiersbronn

On the edge of the Black Forest National Park lies the town of Baiersbronn, the ideal starting point for exploring nature. With thousands of kilometres of hiking trails mapped out all over the Black Forest, you can get around just fine. Hike, for example, to the Ellbachseeblick viewpoint, where panoramic views of Lake Ellbach and the green treetops await you. The hike to the Sankenbach waterfall is also highly recommended. A little further on, you can see the water from the waterfall flowing into the Sankenbachsee, where you can take a refreshing dip yourself in good weather! Are you out and about with the kids? Then hike among the fir trees along the Holzweg. At two kilometres long, this educational trail is perfect for small children, who can also have fun with various games and tasks along the way. Learned young is done old, right?!

At motorhome stopover Schelklewiesen, you stay overnight close to the centre of Baiersbronn.

Bad Dürrheim

The small town of Bad Dürrheim is known for its relaxing resorts in the middle of nature. As a recognised salt, air and Kneipp spa, this place is a paradise for motorhome owners who really want to be in relaxation mode. Several wellness pools offer lovely, heated baths, saunas and massages overlooking the rolling hills. That is enjoyment! Rested enough and ready to get back into nature? The Himmelberg Runde covers some ten kilometres and offers beautiful views. On a clear day, you can even spot the Swiss Alps! The Black Forest also lends itself well to a motorhome tour. Driving through the countryside, you will pass the most beautiful viewpoints where you can picnic, or drive to a village to have a drink at one of the cosy terraces.

Spend the night at Reisemobilhafen Bad Dürrheim or in Villingen/Schwenningen at the Messegelände motorhome stopover.

Baden Wine Route

The Baden Wine Route is over 500 kilometres long and takes you through a vast landscape past vineyards, wine farmers and villages. Although the route passes several regions in Germany, the section on the edge of the Black Forest is a very special one. Grapes need a lot of light to grow, and the Black Forest is precisely known for its dense forestation. Nevertheless, it has been producing great wines for years, which you should definitely taste. Between the steep slopes of Ortenau, lined by hundreds of metres of vineyards, you will find several wineries where you can attend a tour and tasting. Do you prefer to be active? Then you can also go on a bicycle tour or hike through the vineyards. Definitely a special experience!

At the foot of the vineyards, park your motorhome at Grol/Festplatz in Durbach, or at Wohnmobilstellplatz Ebersweier.

Badische Weinstrasse

- Despite the dense afforestation of the Black Forest, delicious wines are produced here!
